Finally...the Flea Market

Last weekend was a beautiful spring weekend, the perfect flea market weekend!

Sad news? I really did not leave with much.

Almost three hours quietly strolling, taking my time, enjoying myself, but no really big scores. A couple small ones, still, a day well spent!

I found another coke crate for my flatware displays.

Cool burlap to recover my front porch chairs.

LOVE the pendant light, it is going to finish off my little reading nook, yes...as you can see, my chair is yet uncovered...maybe this weekend.

WOW, this is a crappy picture, but I loved this little silver bucket, I picture it stuffed full of roses.

And this little cutie, California pottery, actually my daughter wanted this, she is a cheese and cracker junkie and wanted to load it up immediately.

Oh and, yes, of course I picked up a handful of flatware, yes, some to hammer, but, more for my stash or, should I start calling it a hoard?

Well that is a another blog post.

This weekend is my yardwork weekend, but I am hoping to get some work done on my ugly chair, now that I have the pendant light to hang over it, I am even more excited to get it covered! Nothing like a little motivation!

You didn't think I was going to leave you without a Wednesday flower picture did you? My Irises are blooming and oh they are wonderful this year!

Hope your week is going well!

I must have flowers, always and always~Claude Monet

I must have flowers, always and always~
Claude Monet

I agree with Monsieur Monet  100%.

A weekly indulgence, I buy myself flowers. And every week I snap pictures trying to catch their beauty before they fade.

This week it was roses again. They looked so beautiful in the light this morning.

Oh, they are so beautiful, I just love flowers.

Even the ones that make me sneeze, like every flowering tree in Middle TN.

Have I mentioned I have been making wind chimes? I sold one at the Farmisan Market last weekend and brought this one to Creative Village today, but I have a few more to build this week. Not only is it a good use for the many knives I have in my stash, I have found that they are pretty fun to make, combining both my love of beads and flatware.

and they sure looked pretty hanging in the flowering crab apple tree.

Did I mention I loved flowers?

Hope you are having a wonderful spring flower filled weekend!

The Farmisan Market: Spring 2015

What a beautiful day we had for the opening of the Farmisan Market. I was so happy to be set up in the grass under a pretty tree. Such a pleasant setting!

Charlie Daniels park is pretty large. Fantastic playground for the kids, splash pad/water park, skate board park, tennis and volley ball courts, a stage and a lovely paved walking path that circles the entire park. We had a great response on Facebook, but on a Saturday night, the park is full so we had even more people that just happened to be at the park enjoying a gorgeous evening that came by to see what was going on. We had a fantastic turnout.

We had a pretty good number of vendors, but our area is so large, we ended up pretty spread out and looked a little sparse. But we had quite a few vendors. I was really happy with the turn out.

Expecting even more vendors to join us as the summer goes on. Cannot wait to see who comes next.

Honestly, I thought I got better pictures, I should have paid closer attention to my shots, but I was running around trying to snap pictures in between guests, I should have gotten closer in, some of the vendor booths were really cool!

Erica Joe and Fully Automatic opened the season, they were fantastic!

We ended up having to close down about 45 minutes early because of rain, but I had sold a lot of stock and was really thrilled with my sales. I still have quite a bit of new stock left, and I plan to hammer again this week to replenish what was sold, then it all goes back to Creative Village this weekend.

I have to miss the market next month, but I will be back in June. I can't wait! It was so much fun, I really enjoyed meeting new and returning guests, so many sweet comments (and ideas for spoons) really made my day!

I hope you are having a great week!

This Sunday is for relaxing.

It has been a busy couple of months, getting ready for the Farmisan along with all the craziness that comes with daily life, so today, I am taking it easy.

Took advantage of the periods of sunshine in between the rain showers today to sit outside on the deck and enjoy some homemade Spicy Thai coconut soup with shrimp in my yellow Fire King chili bowl that I scored in February during my last thrift store run....I need another thrift store run now that I think about it.

The first Farmisan market of the season was a huge success! I LOVED being in the park, it was the perfect setting and we had a really good size crowd, but I will tell you more about that later this week. Today, I am going to enjoy my soup, pop in a movie and let myself sit still for awhile.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend!

A diamond in the rough

Here is the rough.

And here is the diamond.

Not sure of the maker, but it is marked as made in Italy and I fell in love as soon as I dug it out of the mixed lot that I won on Ebay this week. I have had a busy week getting ready and organized for the Farmisan Market today, oh and what a beautiful day we have for the opening market. It is just gorgeous outside.

Hope we have as good a turn out as we think we will have!

I will make sure to take lot of pictures! Wish me luck!

What have I gotten myself into?

Six Hundred Dollars.

That was the estimate to recover my 27.00 flea market find chair. Six hundred dollar's, wow, just, wow.

I am obviously totally out of touch with how much it costs to recover furniture, I figured I would have to spend around 300.00, but 600.00? No way man. I have better things to spend that kind of money on. After all, this is not a high  quality antique, it is a 27.00 chair with a leg repair. So, not to be deterred, I immediately started scanning Pinterest and of course found several really good tutorials, one tutorial was on the exact same chair as mine. Perfect.

So, on I go to another project..did I say one project? Make that two.

Cute huh? I believe it probably belonged to a dressing table at one point. It is a perfect height and size, but covered in an ugly upholstery. Yuck. It has got to go.

I think it will be a good practice piece to work on before I move onto my chair. So, my goal is to have both pieces recovered by the end of this month. I think I can manage it, lol, I say that, then think of the gardening and outside projects I have planned, The Farmisan Market next Saturday and the Nashville Flea Market on the 24th....maybe I should move my goal to the end of next month?

I am in really good shape stock wise for the Farmisan market on Saturday so I will not have to kill myself hammering every night after work this week. I am really excited to see how it goes. New location, lots of new stock from me and a bunch of  new vendors.
 So much fun!

Hope you have a great week!

My Easter Table

 I love Martha Stewart.

I know it is not a popular opinion and people love to hate her, so say what you will about Martha, but I just love her. I have been a fan for almost 20 years. Loved her shows, her magazine, website and blog and a lot of her products. I think the reason I have stayed a fan is because I know I could never copy her lifestyle,  and I never tried, but I am constantly inspired  by her and I tailor what I like to fit my lifestyle~and budget.

It works for me.

I loved the Easter table setting in the April edition of Martha Stewart Living, I have a pretty decent collection of Jadeite so I decided to create my own version of her Easter table setting.

It is just the four of us for  Easter dinner, not a big affair, but as usual, I insist on a pretty table.

Usually I use Grandmother Adeline's yellow flower dishes for Easter, but I really loved the look of the purple flowers with the green Jadeite plates. And actually, most of the Jadeite came from Grandmother Adeline as well. So I am still using Grandmothers dishes!

Love my Lefton bunnies, it was fun to add them to the table setting.

And as always, I love digging into my mixed set of flatware.

The crystal glasses are a new addition, I found them at my favorite indoor flea market and thought they would look great with the Jadeite.

I love this pretty butter knife, it is one of my favorite orphans.

We had a lovely quiet Easter, Hope yours was wonderful as well!

Are you ready to plant your garden?

I may be ready, but I am not sure the weather is ready to let me yet.

Another hard frost last night, not that I would have started planting yet myself, I tend to hold off until the end of April or first week in May. But DANG, enough already with the freezes, lets have some Spring breezes already!

I finally got around to ordering my seeds, this is the first year in I can't remember how long that I skipped all the veggies. Last couple years I have not had the best turnout with my veg, so, I decided to give my garden a break and just plant flowers. Maybe I will go back to my veggies next year.

So this year, I am all about the flowers.

Have you checked out Baker Creek yet? I have been ordering from them for about 15 years now...in short....I love them. Best selection of Heirloom everything around.

And they even sent me a free pack, I may be skipping growing my veggies this year, but I am never skipping out on my herbs. Basil, chives, thyme and sage oh how I have missed them in my kitchen. In the summertime I think I use fresh chives and basil several times a week.

I cannot wait for summer tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and fresh basil on good French bread or summer tomatoes and fresh Cilantro for the best fresh salsa ever. Dang, I wonder if I made a mistake skipping planting my tomatoes?

Cannot wait for these beautiful Sunflowers!

I have yet to have any luck with Poppies, but this year, lets see what happens.

Zinnia's and Dahlia's My favorites.

Any my Morning Glories, did I say Zinnia's and Dahlias were my favorite? Ok, well, maybe they are all my favorites!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Spring Flowers

My mid week posts seem to be following a trend.

Flower trending

Redbuds, Oriental Magnolia's, Bradford Pears (not my favorite because, let's be honest..they stink), and the Dog woods will not be far behind.

Red Buds and  the Oriental Magnolia's are my favorite's, I could spend hours taking pictures of these beautiful blooms.

I am lucky to have a long weekend this weekend. My company is closed for Good Friday so I plan to squeeze in some thrifting, and hammering before Easter on Sunday.

Hope you are having a great week!
