Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

My daughter is not usually one to go for the Princess costumes anymore, she has been a Vampire the last couple Halloween's, but pretty much as soon as last Halloween was over, she had decided that she wanted to be a Sugar Skull this year.

I was lazy and found the coolest face tattoo from Amazon.com instead of trying to free hand the make up,  It was super easy to apply and looked so cool!

So fun! We love Halloween!

I hope you have a fun filled spooky Halloween!

Vintage Christmas Ornaments

My fist try at making Christmas Ornaments from vintage flatware.

I have to admit, it was fun!

I am pretty pleased with how they all turned out, I plan to bring most of them to Creative Village this weekend, I already have two of the three "spoon birds" spoken for, they did turn out super cute!

Some of my knife handle ornaments.

I have a couple more of these completed that I did not get photographed, and three more to finish up. I am really happy with how they turned out! I think they will look beautiful hanging on the Christmas tree.

But I think my favorite are the spoons, I  LOVE the spoon ornaments! I am really happy with how these turned out! So cute! love the stars and the tiny bows!

My nod to our favorite Christmas movie.

And my little birds nestled into their spoon nests. Love, LOVE how these turned out!

I love the little couple snuggled together!

This delicate vintage doily is my favorite by far!

I still need to tie the ribbons on the other two, I have had two people already interested in buying, so I think only one will make it to Creative Village this weekend!

And since I had an extra little birdie, I decided to take a really pretty empty oyster shell and make it into a little nest "scape" I thought it was cute, it will go to Creative Village, hopefully someone else will think it is cute as well!

Fun first try at Christmas Ornaments, I will definitely do this again, but next time, I will start working on them a lot earlier!

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Saying farewell to summer.....

Although I am now fully into Fall mode, and loving it,  I could not help but get a little sad this morning when I went outside to cut some Zinnia's. It hit me that these are some of the last Zinnias of the season.

I always miss my beautiful blooms.

I stopped for a moment to look around my backyard, My poor morning glories perished early because of the hot dry end of summer weather coupled with a shock of a cold, but since it has been cooler several things have perked up again. Like my lemon balm, I have mounds of lemon balm growing along with my daylilies. A strange combination, but it works.

I really love mixing lemon balm and my Zinnias together. They make such a beautiful bouquet.

Then I looked over toward my potted herb garden, and saw the last of the most lovely grape tomatoes, so beautiful.

And the Basil.

Oh my heart breaks.

I am going to head outside this afternoon and harvest our sweet potatoes and cut the Basil. The best way I have found to keep it is frozen with olive oil in ice cube trays. Not the same as fresh, but, it will get me by and I will enjoy it in soup until spring, although, I know I won't make it that long and will end up buying potted herbs from Trader Joes before the end of January.

I sure will miss summer.

But I will make sure to enjoy Fall and Winter as well. As much as I love summer tomatoes and floating in the pool, I also enjoy staying inside watching movies curled up under chenille blankets with hot drinks and yummie snacks.

Old Farmers Almanac says we are in for another snowy hard winter, Is it bad that I am actually looking forward to that? For my family,  last Winters epic ice storms was a lovely relaxing staycation that I am 100% happy to repeat!

Hope you are having a lovely Autumn weekend!

Apples, Apples and more Apples!

Autumn means apples! And I love apple season!

I went on a bit of an apple binge this past weekend.

Apple sauce, apple bread, apple dumplings and Apples sliced up with homemade caramel sauce. Luckily my family loves apples as well.

The smell of homemade applesauce bubbling away on the stove top, the best fall fragrance ever!

Applesauce bread, my own version and I love it!

My husband and son love the apple dumplings.

ummmmm homemade caramel sauce with granny smith apples. Oh my!

Not to mention the Honey Crisp apples with Colby cheese and red apples with honey roasted peanut butter that I have in my lunch every day this week.

I am a little apple crazy this time of year. But there are worse things I suppose.

I hope you are having a great week and enjoying some of this seasons apples!

Autumn Evenings

I love these first cool evenings of Autumn.

After coming home from work on Friday night I decided to pull out some battery tea lights and light up my vintage insulators. I always keep a stash of these little battery lights on hand, I find that I use them a lot.

There is something so calming about watching the flame flicker underneath that beautiful blue glass. The chill breeze carrying the scent of wood smoke through the window, birds chirping and that warm flickering flame glowing.

Sigh, so relaxing.

It would be even more relaxing if my house was clean and all the laundry caught up.

oh well, at least my view from the kitchen sink is pleasing.

This weekend was too busy, but next weekend we plan to light a fire in the fire pit and drag out the projector to watch Disney's "Ichabod Crane" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". Something off the smoker will be on the menu for dinner and caramel corn with the movie under the stars.

 I love fall!

Today was the last Farmisan Market of the year and it was a very sad, small turn out. I am worried for our little market, I fear it may not survive another year. But I am going step up my hammering and really increase my stock over this winter so I have enough on hand to participate in some of the big craft shows that I have had to pass on this year because my stock was so low. Darn bum shoulder this summer really slowed me down a lot more than I realized.

But before I start to hammer again, I better get my Christmas ornaments made.

That is next week's project!

Hope your are getting to enjoy some of this beautiful Autumn weather!

BOO!!

I have been working on some fun Halloween themed sentiment spoons for the Farmisan Market this weekend.

Christmas spoons come next!  Can you believe it is almost time to start thinking about Christmas?

And I have a few ornament Ideas that I am excited to bring to Creative Village. Believe it or not, I am actually looking forward to making some Christmas stuff. I am not typically a big Christmas person, but I surprise myself sometimes.

Busy week getting ready for the last market of the season on Saturday, it is going to be a gorgeous day so I am hoping we get a decent crowd.

I hope you are having a great week!

A couple treasures from the Nashville Flea

This month is flying by!

I was looking at my calendar and realized I am only two weeks away from the October Flea market and I never posted my September finds!

Not that I had any super cool finds, I really did not find much in my two hours strolling around. I was pretty surprised actually because the October market is one of the bigger ones with lots of vendors. My main focus was chairs for my kitchen table, but, no luck. So hopefully this month I will get lucky and find the chairs I am looking for. I have seen them at the flea market before, and I just know I will be able to find more like them again.

But I did find the red Fire King chilie bowl. Score! And a steal at 2.00!

And who could pass up a funky mug? I know I never can!

And more flatware. I have been looking for the large serving spoons. I have a couple long poems that I would like to hammer out that I think will make very popular Christmas presents. I can't wait to get going on those, and the way this month is flying by, I better get hammering fast.

I have several plans for some Christmas themed ideas as well. There will be an open house at Creative Village at the beginning of November, they will be putting out all the Christmas stuff then and I am excited to see what everyone will have!

Next weekend will be the last Farmisan market of the season. I hate to admit it, but it was not the success I hoped it would be this year. I thought we would have bigger crowds being at the park, but, sadly we have been pretty darn slow, I hope we can come up with some big ideas to get people out there to see us next year..we need some produce people!

Beautiful Autumn weather here this week, our Fall color is not as pretty as it can be after our very dry summer, but the cooler temps have felt wonderful!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Thank you Mom!!

Thank you Mom!

I passed on a Singer sewing table at the Goodwill a couple years ago while shopping on my lunch hour, and immediately regretted my decision. I went back right after work, expecting it to be gone, and it was. So, since then I have had my eye open for one, I have found a few, but not for the 19.99 that the Goodwill had it priced for, ug, kicking myself. I planned to make a pallet table top and use it as an "island" in my kitchen, so when my mom found another sewing table that she fell in love with at an Antique store in WI, she offered me the one she had. Exactly the one I was looking for. But no replacing this one with a pallet table top. I will leave it just as it is, because it is perfect!

Daisy must think so as well, her new favorite spot is laying directly underneath it.

Perfect height, perfect size. I love how it looks in my kitchen.

It holds all my crocks, not just for my big ones with my kitchen utensils, but it also fits my little crocks with my crazy flatware collection. I love it!

So a big thank you to my Mom! I hope you enjoy your new sewing table as much as I will enjoy your old one!

Hope you are having a great week!

It's Fall ya'll!

Fall has finally come to Middle Tennessee, well, sort of. Although the past week was cool and rainy, we are going to be back in the 80's this week. I love the South!

80's or not, it is time for mums, hoodies and baking, and I am ready for it!

But the first of October brought more than just some cooler temps,  for those of us in the healthcare field, With October 1st came ICD-10, so to say that I had a busy week is a bit of an understatement. I suspect that we will be extra busy for the rest of the month while everyone is getting used to the new coding system, but I hope that things start to slow down soon. Have you ever been so busy for so long you just start to wear out? I am getting there. Nothing a long lazy weekend can't take care of, but it will be a few weeks before I can manage that.

But busy or not, I am going to make sure we get to enjoy some of our favorite things that Fall brings, cool nights around the fire pit, football, caramel corn, soup and baking!

Pumpkin cake roll is one of my favorites! I did not bake this, but boy was it good! First pumpkin of the season!

I hope you are having a great weekend!
